These wonderful clients came to me with a drawing of the exact piece they envisioned for their empty dining room wall. My role was straightforward: bring their vision to life and ensure the piece looked like it had always been part of the home, seamlessly matching the existing historical plaster and its soft, organic edges.
Here’s how we made it happen:
Built a custom frame.
Translated the arch from their drawing into a precise, real-life structure.
Sourced a walnut countertop and matching veneer doors for a cohesive look.
Reinforced the 9-foot shelves with 14-gauge steel to prevent sagging.
Constructed and installed the final piece with precision.
Applied plaster in a style that seamlessly blends with the existing finish throughout the house

I had the privilege of collaborating with an amazing Ukrainian family to design a one-of-a-kind display for their treasured heirlooms. Together, we created a piece that combines the timeless beauty of 16-gauge steel with brass plating, custom glass shelving, and an aged mirror backing. The design not only showcases their keepsakes but also enhances the room's ambiance by reflecting light and opening up the space, perfectly framing the window within the wall.

Concept design and planning
Steel welding and fabrication
Brass plating for a refined finish
Sourcing and installing 3/8” custom glass shelving
Antiqued mirror backing for added depth and elegance

SPECTRL was commissioned to design a more enduring pergola structure for a shared patio space in Highland Park, replacing the weathered fabric shade-sails currently in use. The design leverages the area's natural height to symbolize elevated thought and character. Adhering to budget constraints, SPECTRL proposed using combinations of materials like wood with fabric, wood with steel, and wood with plastic, creatively positioned to cast geometric shadows. The project was driven by a vision to nurture communal interactions among Highland Park’s vibrant creative community and included site assessment, 3D renderings, and concept design.

Liquid Metal can be sprayed on just about any surface and buffed to a metallic finish. Various patenting agents can be added as the main ingredient is finaly ground metal powder.
Venetian Plaster and Roman Clay are eco-friendly wall finishes that use natural ingredients like lime, clay, and marble dust. These materials are VOC-free, allowing walls to breathe, which improves air quality and reduces moisture buildup. Their application involves multiple layers that are burnished to achieve a polished or matte texture. Venetian plaster offers a more polished, marble-like finish, while Roman clay provides an earthy, soft texture. Both finishes are highly durable and create timeless, non-toxic, sustainable surfaces for any interior.
